STDs that can be gotten from kissing

Majority of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are transferred through contact with genital fluids or sores and during sexual intercourse. But it'll surprise you that a few of these diseases can be transmitted through other means which includes kissing.


Herpes is most contagious when symptoms are present. People with oral herpes have an HSV-1 infection, which causes sores, blisters, or ulcers. The World Health Organization estimate that 3.7 billion people under the age of 50 around the world have this infection.


Syphilis is a bacterial STI spread through direct contact with a syphilis sore. Initially, a person tends to have round, firm, painless sores. These often heal on their own within three to six weeks. Some people have latent syphilis they experience no symptoms early on.


HPV stands for human papillomavirus. There are several of these viruses, and some can cause cancer later in life.


Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is very common STD that can be passed through kissing. according to reliable sources children in the United States develop the infection by age 5. There is no cure for CMV, but most people who have the infection do not require treatment.
