A lady on Twitter had come out to share the story of how she was diagnosed with HIV despite the shame and stigmatization that comes with the revelation of such health condition. She was also so courageous to encourage others with such health condition not to give up. What a valiant woman she is!
For whosoever that does not know what HIV is, HIV is an acronym for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV causes AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) and interferes with the body's ability to fight infections.
The virus which can be transmitted by;
-Blood products (unclean needles or unscreened blood).
-Having unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex.
-Mother to baby by pregnancy, labor, or nursing.
Within a few weeks of HIV infection, flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat and fatigue can occur. Then the disease is usually asymptomatic until it progresses to AIDS. AIDS symptoms include weight loss, fever or night sweats, fatigue and recurrent infections.
Back to her story, as soon as she shared this story, she received accolades from people for being so courageous and outspoken. We don't get to this often.
See her post below:
She paved way for another person who shared a similar story.
People praised them for sharing this encouraging and uplifting story of theirs.
The story of these people had made us understand that the first step to recovery or living with this kind of health challenge is "not to panic" and be courageous to accept that it is not the end of one's life.
The second step is to seek professional medical opinion and adhere to them.
What an awesome story to share!
