The lungs are vital organs of the respiratory system and are accountable for performing a gaseous exchange. The lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs located on either side of the chest (thorax). The trachea (windpipe) conducts inhaled air into the lungs through its tubular branches, called bronchi. The lungs are enclosed by a thin tissue layer called the pleura. The lungs also help the body to alleviate carbon dioxide gas when we breathe out.

The lung is a delicate organ and it requires adequate care and attention to function properly. Due to their delicate nature, they are vulnerable to a range of illnesses. The delicate structure of your lungs is beautifully modified to breathe and, at the same time, helps protect your body from harm. Different diseases can affect the lungs. Lung disease refers to numerous diseases impacting the lungs, such as asthma, COPD, infections like influenza, pneumonia and tuberculosis, lung cancer, and many other breathing problems.
