Always Eat These Fruits To Boost Your Immune System

Following the recent corona issue coupled with the rainy season we've entered, it is necessary that we do all we can to stay healthy by eating enough fruits and vegetables. Eating these fruits regularly and incorporating them into our diet will go a long way in keeping us away from the hospital and from taking drugs, the good thing with these fruits is that they are cheap and readily available in our local market. They include;

1. Pawpaw 

This fruit is rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A. Apart from improving your immune system, pawpaw is also known to promote better heart health as well as preventing cancer. It is well known for its high nutritional and medicinal value. Research studies has shown that the phytonutrient compounds in pawpaw help as an immune enhancing and strong antioxidant. Pawpaw is also rich in antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, flavonoids, and vitamin C, as well as vitamin B (folate and pantothenic acid). The fruit is also a good source of fibre and minerals such as magnesium. All these nutrients help improve cardiovascular health and protect against colon cancer.

2. Watermelon

Watermelon is packed with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, including vitamin C, vitaminA, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins B1, B5 and B6, all of which are important in keeping the body healthy, to prevent or fight illness. Watermelon is also high in carotenoids, including lycopene which gives watermelon it's red color.

3. Banana

Bananas are good source of vitamin B6 which helps in brain development during pregnancy and good metabolism. They are also high in carbohydrate and potassium which has many health benefits like improving the heart's health, brain functioning, and blood circulation properties. So it is a good option to add banana to our diet.They are also good for the kidney as per the recent 13-year study states that women who ate banana 3 times per week can decrease the chances of kidney disease by 33 percent. Another study states that the people who ate bananas 4-6 times a week can reduce the chances of kidney disease 50 percent more than those who don’t eat the banana.

4. Guava 

Another good fruit to boost immunity is guava. Guava contains lots of vitamin C, vitamin A that works to boost immunity. Even the leaves of guava have medicinal properties, it is said to provide relief from cold and cough by reducing the formation of mucus, disinfecting the respiratory tract and preventing bacterial activity in the throat due to its astringent properties. 

5. Orange

Oranges are a healthy source of fiber, vitamin C, thiamine, folate, and antioxidants. They have multiple health benefits which includes helping in preventing skin damage, keeps blood pressure under check, lowers cholesterol, controls blood sugar level, and lowers the risk of cancer. And the good thing about these fruits is that they are very cheap, you can get a reasonable quantity for a fair price.
