Salt and sugar are used to enhance the flavor of our food, but too much of either can cause major health concerns in both adults and children. Salt and sugar should be avoided by babies because excessive consumption is unhealthy and can lead to issues like reduced kidney function, teeth decay, and lowered immunity, among other things.
Here are reasons why you should avoid including salt and sugar in your babies diet
1 Affects kidney function

Excessive salt consumption can compromise kidney function because an infant's kidneys are unable to handle and eliminate large levels of salt from the blood. This puts a burden on the kidneys, which can lead to renal disease later on.
2 Causes kidney stone

Excess sodium from salt can cause the body to excrete more calcium in the urine, which can lead to kidney stones. Kidney stones can cause significant pain throughout the body, as well as fever and chills, nausea and vomiting, burning while urinating, and blood in the urine.
3 High blood pressure

Excess salt intake can lead to high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Ingesting too much salt as a baby can lead to hypertension later in life.
4 Tooth Decay
Too much added sugar in your diet can lead to painful cavities and tooth decay as bacteria in the mouth take sugar from food to make acids that harm teeth.
Obesity is caused by consuming too much sugar in one's diet. This could result in a lot of unneeded calories being converted to fat and retained in the body and having too much body fat is extremely harmful to a baby's health.
