
Members of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in Sagamu went on strike on the 1st of July.
The doctors complains were about the non - implementation of the new minimum wage, hazard allowance, inappropriate remuneration, and absence of a life insurance policy for its members.
They sent warning letters, but the no response from the government shows that they are not concerned about their plight.
On Monday, 20th July, special assistant to the governor on public communications, Remmy Hassan disclosed that the striking doctors have been replaced by volunteers.
According to him, he said the doctors have right to strike and since it is a national strike, they cannot stop them so they had to replace them. But he hope's it does not take longer than they expect.
The secretary, ARD, Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Osundara Tope confirmed the replacement and added that the doctors are hopeful that the government would call for a meeting this week.
