Meet Lina Medina, the girl who became a mother at the age of 5.

Normally, a woman can only get pregnant once she starts ovulating. The process of ovulation brings about the release of an egg, which then gets fertilized by the sperm if Sexual intercourse occurs.

On a very normal ground, a girl is expected to start ovulating once she hits the age of puberty which normally commences at age of 10 or 11, on average.

There are cases of early bloomers and late bloomers but some girls in history has broken the records of average biology.

In early spring of 1939, in a remote village in Peru, parents of one 5 year old Lina Medina noticed that the girls belly was growing bigger by the day.

They initially feared that it could be a sign of abdominal tumor. The 5 year old was rushed to the hospital where the doctor confirmed that Lina was already 7 months pregnant.

About 6 weeks later, on the 14th of May, 1939, Lina gave birth to a healthy 6 pounds baby boy via C-section. Lina Medina, at 5 years, 7 months, 21 days old, became the world youngest mother!

Melina never revealed who the father of her son was and her family also shuns public attention. See some of her old photographs below:
