These fruits are blessed with several vitamins with the likes of C and E, minerals such as iron and some other nutrients like citric acid, citrates etc.

With these nutrients, several health benefits can be provided by oranges and they include -

1. Prevention of kidney stones

Kidney stones also known as nephrolithiasis occurs when salts form stones in the kidneys. Citric acid and citrates which are present in orange fruits are believed to help in the prevention of this condition.

2. Youthful glowing skin

Oranges are good sources of vitamin C which helps strengthen the collagen fibres of the skin making it look younger and preventing wrinkles. Vitamin E which is also present in oranges helps fight oxidative damages that result to premature aging.

3. Prevention of anemia

Oranges are good sources of iron which is the major constituent of the hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is found in the human red blood cells and helps in picking up oxygen molecules from the lungs to the other cells of the body. Consumption of oranges provides iron that helps in the production of hemoglobin.

Oranges are blessed with all these benefits but there is a medical condition that may not support it and could make it worse. It is a medical condition called heartburn. This condition often presents with a burning sensation in the chest region and most times results from gastric ulcer or gastroesophageal reflux, a condition also known as acid reflux.

Taking oranges with this condition could make symptoms worse because the acidic content of oranges can affect that of the stomach having it elevated and this wouldn't be helpful for someone who needs their gastric acids as low as possible.
