Mouth Ulcer Symptoms, Causes And Treatment To Get Rid Of It

Mouth ulcers are a very common ailment that many people suffer from. The most common symptom is a painful and blistery sore inside the mouth that hurts when you open your mouth.

Some people get these mouth ulcers from brushing too hard or from the sores and cuts that can develop with a cold sore. But some people get them from dental problems like dry mouth or from having ill-fitting dentures.

There are various causes of mouth ulcers

One of the most common causes is the presence of Candida yeast in the mouth. This yeast is kept under control by your immune system but sometimes it can overgrow and cause the bacteria in your mouth to attack each other. When this happens, you start to get sores in your mouth and they may also start bleeding.

The first way to get rid of a mouth ulcer is to make sure you do not have the yeast infection in the first place. Then you can try to use antifungals like Nizoral or Diflucan to kill off the yeast. These do not always work immediately and sometimes you may need to go and see your doctor to get rid of the problem.

In more severe cases you may need to see your doctor and have your mouth looked at by an oral surgeon. This will enable them to take out the offending bacteria inside your mouth.

Once they have done this the mouth ulcer will usually heal itself. However, there are several things you can do in the meantime to speed up the healing process and get rid of the mouth ulcer as quickly as possible.

Try and avoid eating spicy foods if you have a mouth ulcer

Spicy food will irritate the sore and the mouth ulcer will become worse. It is better for you to eat mild foods at first to allow the mouth to get back to being healed.

The next tip you can use to help speed up the healing time and get rid of mouth ulcers is to try and stay away from those that are smoking. Nicotine is extremely harmful to anyone's health and it is also damaging to the mouth.

When you smoke your mouth becomes more irritated and the bacteria gets even more trapped inside your mouth. It is best if you can quit smoking or at least cut down on how much you smoke. As with anything else it does not matter how many times you tell someone to quit smoking. If you do not want to quit then make sure you avoid having any.

There are several natural treatments that you can use to try and get rid of mouth ulcers

You can use aloe vera gel, or you can take supplements that contain magnesium and zinc to heal your mouth and prevent mouth ulcers. Both of these treatments are readily available in most drug stores. There are also a lot of holistic detox programs that you can take part in. These programs are a lot easier on your body and they are also painless.

One final way that you can get rid of mouth ulcers is by using an ice pack. This is probably the easiest thing that you can do to try and heal your mouth. All you need to do is cover your mouth with the ice for fifteen minutes and then cover your mouth again.

Repeat this process for about twenty minutes. Make sure that you keep the ice on for at least thirty minutes, as well as let your mouth be cold for at least ten minutes after doing this.
