Irregular periods? Check out five home remedies to regulate your cycle.

Irregular periods are medically known as oligomenorrhea which is a quite common problem in women.

An average menstrual cycle is 28days, but this vary from woman to woman.

Periods are considered regular if they come within the cycle (24 to 38 days),but when the time between periods keep changing you have an irregular period.

Many factors can cause irregular period such as weight loss or gain, menopause, birth control pills, eating disorders and hormonal imbalance.

Irregular periods can be regulated although treatment depends on the identified cause, there are home remedies which can help.

Read on to discover home remedies:

1. Eat pineapples and papayas

Papayas contain carotene; a nutrient that supports estrogen levels. It helps the uterus contract.

Pineapples contains bromelain which helps with blood flow.

2. Castor Oil

Castor oil is traditionally used to stimulate menstrual flow.

To effectively use castor oil, soak a soft cloth in castor oil, squeeze off the excess oil. Then place the soft cloth over your abdomen and cover with a plastic wrap. Place a hot water bottle over the plastic covered cloth or flannel.

But castor oil shouldn't be used during pregnancy.

3. Tumeric

Tumeric roots contains curcumin, which has been shown to have many beneficial effects and decrease the symptoms of PMS.

It also helps in regulating your periods.

4. Ginger

Ginger tea is one of the herbs with magical properties that stimulates menstrual flow and promotes contractions.

But when taken excessively it has side effects.

5. Aloe vera

Aloe vera juice is normally used for stomach aches but it can be used to stimulate menstrual flow since it's an emmenagogue herb.
