The abuse of alcohol is becoming prevalent among teenagers and adults.Teenagers and adults most ignorantly abuse alcohol due to the influence of friends and peer pressure. It pains me to see teenagers and adults abuse alcohol ignorantly of the negative effects it might have on them in the future.
Alcohol is a depressant that heavily dampens mood, decrease sexual desire, and it makes men difficult to achieve erection or reach an orgasm under its influence. In fact, its over-consumption commonly causes erectile dysfunction. The effects of alcohol are balanced between it decreasing sexual activity, and it increasing the desire for sex.
A depressant is a drug that reduces arousal or stimulation, in various parts of the brain. Erectile dysfunction (ED) sometimes referred to as impotence is the inability to achieve or keep an erection firm enough for sex.
Harmful effects of alcohol include:
1. LONG-TERM ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION.
Heavy use of alcohol has been discovered to cause long term erectile dysfunction. Even research has revealed that men who are dependent on alcohol have a 60 to 70 percent likelihood of suffering from sexual problems. The most common of these problems are erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and loss of sexual desire.
2. RUINED RELATIONSHIPS
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism has revealed that alcohol use beyond moderation is often associated with relationship problems that include conflict, infidelity, economic insecurity, and divorce. In addition, 90 percent of all sexual assaults and harassment involve alcohol consumption.
Another big risk of combining sex and alcohol is the frequent exposure to a sexually transmitted disease. Research has revealed that in about half of unplanned sexual encounters involving alcohol, up to 60 percent of STDs are transmitted when alcohol is involved. In fact, young adults who use alcohol are seven times more likely to have unprotected sex.
4. NERVOUS SYSTEM DEPRESSANT
Abuse of alcohol causes the respiration, circulation, and nerve ending sensitivity to be suppressed.
Alcohol is a diuretic (any substance that promotes the increased production of urine). It causes your body to remove fluids from your blood through your renal system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, and bladder, at a much quicker rate than other liquids. If you don't drink enough water with alcohol, you can become dehydrated quickly.
It also takes away the blood and oxygen flow needed to bring greater sensation to the genitals.
6. ]ALCOHOL ABUSE AFFECTS HORMONE LEVELS.
Alcohol lowers testosterone levels, which causes diminished sexual drive and function.
That’s because pre-sex boozing decreases blood flow to your penis, reduces the intensity of your orgasm, and can dampen your level of excitement (i.e it causes the excitement gotten from sex to be not as pleasurable as before).
As with all other substances of abuse, the only way to prevent serious physical and mental effects of adverse is to abstain from alcohol consumption. When the body is free of alcohol, adverse signs and symptoms from alcohol consumption will no longer be observed.
