Reasons Why You Have Stroke

Stroke refers to the condition where the brain cells die due to inadequate oxygen intake as a result an interruption of the blood flow that carries oxygen to the brain cells. The part of the body being controlled by the dead cells function abnormally. stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures and bleeds, or when there’s a blockage in the blood supply to the brain. The rupture or blockage prevents blood and oxygen from reaching the brain’s tissues.

According to Healthline, the following are the causes of stroke:

1. High blood pressure

2. Alcoholism

3. Smoking

4. High cholesterol

Symptoms

1. Numbness or weakness in the arm, face, and leg, especially on one side of the body

2. Trouble speaking or understanding others

3. Confusion, disorientation, or lack of responsiveness

4. Sudden behavioral changes, especially increased agitation

5. Vision problems, such as trouble seeing in one or both eyes with vision blackened or blurred, or double vision

6. Trouble walking

When to see a doctor

Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any signs or symptoms of a stroke, even if they seem to come and go or they disappear completely.
