Dr. Simon Ezevuo Onwu was a very prominent Nigeria Physician and the first medical doctor from the Igbo ethnic group which is located in Eastern Nigeria.
According to reports, Dr. Simon Ezevuo Onwu didn't complete his secondary school education in Nigeria and was opportune to accompanied Chief Onyeama to the United Kingdom. This great man had so much passion for being a medical doctor and he continues his education in British.

He obtained a degree of MB and ChB in July 1932 from the prestigious University of Edinburgh Medical School and he obtained the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the famous university of Liverpool in 1932.
Dr. Simon Onwu returned to Nigeria in 1933 and has been opportune to work as a medical doctor in different hospital in Nigeria for over 27 years and was well-recognize as the first Igbo medical doctor from Eastern Nigeria
Dr. Simon Onwu was very committed and dedicated to the medical practitioners and was promoted as the Deputy Director of Medical Services in the Eastern Region in 1957 and was appointed as the first African Director of Medical Services in Eastern Region
