Every Woman Should Avoid Uterine Cancer By Staying Away From These 3 Things

Uterine (endometrial) cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women and is the most common cancer of women’s reproductive organs. This goes to a large extent to shown how this cancer affects alot of women all over the world. One of the most dangerous part about uterine cancer is that it can metastasize to the rectum or bladder. Other areas where it may spread include the vagina, ovaries and fallopian tubes. All women who want love their womb and want to conceive should meticulously read this article for proper enlightenment. 

What is uterine cancer?

The uterus is a hollow muscular organ located in the female pelvis between the bladder and rectum. Uterine cancer is a type of cancer that affects the uterus. It occurs when the cells that make up the lining of the womb (the endometrium) begins to multiply excessively. The effect of uterine cancer is less if detected on time and that is why a proper knowledge of the risk factors and symptoms is necessary. 

There are different things that can increase your risk of developing uterine cancer. Some of these risk factors are manageable while others are not. Some risk factors for uterine cancer include; Age, medical conditions that leads to high level of estrogen but not progesterone,obesity,diabetes, cancer of the breast or ovaries, family history,a certain hereditary form of cancer of the large intestine (colon), or possibly, endometrial cancer in a first-degree family member,high blood pressure. Please take not of these risk factors so that you can manage the ones that are controllable. 

What are the signs your body gives you when you have uterine cancer?

Some of the warning signs and symptoms of uterine cancer include;

. Unusual vaginal discharge that does not have signs of blood.

. Difficult or painful urination.

. Pain during intercourse.

. Pain and/or a mass in the pelvic area.

. Weight loss without trying. 

Other signs include; 

. Frequent urination.

. Pain in the abdomen.

. A mass (lump or growth) in the vagina.

. Feeling full at all times. 

There are different lifestyle habits that can cause cancer of the uterus. Some of them include;

1. Alcohol

Excessive Consumption of alcohol can double your risk of uterine cancer. A study has also found that the association of alcohol intake and endometrial cancer is stronger among lean women than among overweight or obese postmenopausal women. Too much intake of alcohol can cause changes in ovulation, cycle regulation and ovarian reserve. It can also restrict proper implantation in the uterus thus leading in an increased rate of early loss of the pregnancy or resorption. This can all happen without the knowledge of the woman. All women should avoid excessive intake of alcohol for the sake of the uterus. Completely stop drinking once you get pregnant.

2. Smoking

Smoking can greatly trigger uterine cancer hence, it is advisable that all women avoid it. Research has shown that tobacco by-products can be found in the cervical mucus of women who smoke. These tobacco by-products damage the DNA of cervix cells and may contribute to the development of cervical cancer. Heavy smoking can also reduce fertility because of its effect on the ovaries hence stop smoking for the sake of your health. 

3. Sugar and high glycemic-index carbohydrates

Abuse of sugar and other high glycemic-index carbohydrates can lead to the development of uterine cancer. This is because too much intake of these foods can lead to diabetes which is a serious risk factor for uterine cancer. Non-insulin dependent diabetes is associated with the risk of uterine cancer, particularly in women who are overweight or obese. High-glycemic index foods can also increase blood glucose levels significant hence avoid them. Examples of such foods include; sugary soft drinks,white bread, white rice, etc.
