Early Signs Of Glaucoma That Should Not Be Taken For Granted

The eyes bring light to the body, without the eyes, you won't even know how the world looks and you won't as well be able to do the things you do now. It is for this reason that you should endeavour to take care of your eyes and always go for checkups every 6 months to ensure, nothing is about happening to your eyes.

In this article, we are going to have a look at some of the early signs of glaucoma that should not be taken for granted. If you start noticing these signs, do well to see a doctor whether or not it is due to glaucoma. Your vision should be your utmost priority, but before we start, let's have a look at what Glaucoma is as a concept.

What Is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is an eye condition that arises due to buildup of pressure in the optic nerve. When this pressure gets to unacceptable level, the optic nerve would be damaged thus leaving the eye with no usefulness again because it's the optic nerve that carries signals to the brain. When it gets damaged, there will be absolutely nothing to do with the eyes again.

What Are The Signs Of Glaucoma That Should Not Be Taken For Granted?

1. Severe And Sudden Eye Pain; this is one sign of glaucoma that should not be taken for granted. Sudden Eye pain is not something any well thinking individual should ignore. Reason is that, many vision threatening problems cause severe eye pain and if you start having constant eye pain, do well to see a doctor for proper checkup as that is one of the signs of glaucoma.

2. Seeing Halos Around Lights; this is perhaps a more serious signs of glaucoma or cataract. If you start seeing rainbow circle each time you look at lights or you come close to light sources coupled with eye pain, then you are most likely suffering from glaucoma and the earlier you see a doctor, the better for you.

3. Loss Of Vision in One Eyes; this is not always so for everyone suffering from glaucoma. If you suddenly lose vision in one eye for no clear reason, then you are most likely suffering from glaucoma and should consider seeing a doctor for proper checkup. Some hospitals can administer eye drops that will go a long way in bringing down your eye pressure.

4. Excess Sensitivity to Light; this is another early sign of glaucoma. If you suddenly start being so sensitive to light to the extent that it stops you from going about your activities under the sun, you should go for glaucoma checkup.

Glaucoma is very dangerous but when uncovered early enough might not lead to vision loss. So take the signs seriously for your own good.
