Welcome to my page, I'm glad to have you here. Please check out my other articles before leaving. Thank you.

Mosquitoes are made up of a group of about 3,500 species of small insects that are flies. The word "mosquito" is gotten from the word mosca and diminutive -ito which is Spanish for "little fly".

Mosquitoes are very common, especially in Nigeria. Their bites can cause itching and swelling, some people may hardly notice the itch, but for other people it is enough to drive them wild.

The reason the bites itch so much is because they trigger an immune response in the body, which causes the body to produce something called histamine.

There are lots of natural remedies for the bites, some of which I will be sharing with you.

1) Basil leaves

Basil leaves are natural itch relievers because they have thymol and camphor in them. Basil leaves can also be used as mosquito repellant. It can stop the bite itch in less than two minutes, just rub the leaves over the bite and wait for relief from the itch.

2) Ice

The cooling effect from crushed ice can relief the itching and swelling. Simply place it on the affected area.

3) Vinegar

Vinegar can stop the stinging and burning sensations of mosquito bites, just take wool and dab a little vinegar on the affected area. It can also serve as a natural disinfectant if you've been scratching too much.

4) Onions

The juice from onions stop itching and swelling, simply get a slice from an onion and place it directly on the area for a while. Onions also have antifungal properties which will reduce your risk of you getting infected.
