4 Home Remedies For People Experiencing Breathlessness.

Breathlessness is an uncomfortable condition that makes it tough for air to enter your lungs. Problems with your heart and lungs can be precarious to your breathing.

1. Deep breathing

Breathing in deeply via the abdomen can be beneficial to someone suffering from breathlessness. To carry out deep breathing at home, people can:

• Lie down and place their hands on their abdomen.

• Breathe in deeply via the nose, expanding the abdomen and letting the lungs fill with air.

• Hold your breath for some seconds.

• Breathe out slowly via your mouth, emptying the lungs.

• People can do this exercise many times in a day or as often as they continue to suffer from shortness of breath.

2. Drinking black coffee

Intake of black coffee may assist in easing breathlessness, as the caffeine in it can lower tightness in the muscles in an individual's airway.

3. Eating fresh ginger

Consuming fresh ginger, or incorporating some in hot water as a drink, may help lower the shortness of breath that happens as a result of a respiratory infection.

4. Pursed lip breathing

Another breathing exercise that can assist in relieving shortness of breath is pursed-lip breathing.

Pursed lip breathing is necessary for lowering breathlessness by slowing down a person’s breathing. This is usually useful if shortness of breath is caused by anxiety.

To try pursed-lip breathing at home, people can:

• Sit upright in a chair and then relax their shoulders.

• Pressing the lips together, and keeping a small gap between them.

• Inhaling air through the nose for some seconds.

• Gently exhale via the pursed lips for a count of four.

Repeat this breathing pattern for some time.
