Ogun community to be disinfected

A firm, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company Limited (MEMMCOL), is set to disinfect its host community, Orimerunmu in Mowe, Ogun State.

Its chairman, Kola Balogun, an engineer, said it was a way of preventing the spread of COVID-19.

“To achieve this, we have procured three tricycles and converted them into a fumigation van.

“These truck loaded with disinfectants would be deployed to disinfect the communities,” he said.

Balogun spoke when the firm donated relief materials to the residents. They include bags of rice, hand sanitizers and face masks worth several millions of naira.

They were distributed to the different Community Development Associations (CDAs) within the Orimerunmu community at an event held at the Palace of the Baale of Orimerunmu.

Balogun said it was to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on the people.

“We are donating these relief materials to the communities as a way of showing our concern to the well-being of the people of our host communities especially during this trying period,” he said.

The Baale of Orimerunmu, Chief Mustafa Akiode commended the management and staff MEMMCOL for always identifying with the community.

Chairman of Powerline CDA, Pastor Obajemu Joseph, said they welcome the plan to disinfect the community.
