Here in Nigeria, we were told certain things to do and not to do concerning our health. Some are right while some are not. And when someone tells us untrue things about our health it might put us in danger.
Here am going to tell you some of the most popular health myth in Nigeria that are not true.
1. EATING TOO MUCH CASSAVA FLOUR CAN CAUSE EYE PROBLEM.
Who doesn't eat cassava flour in Nigeria and it is one of most enjoyed food in Nigeria. But no eye doctor will tell you that eating cassava flour can cause eye problem, but like they say too much of everything is bad and cassava flour contains cyanide which is a toxic substance. Too much of cassava flour intake can affect our overall health but it doesn't cause eye problem.
2. EATING MANGO AND CASSAVA FLOUR AT THE SAME TIME CAN KILL YOU.
Mango is a very popular fruit and it is very rich in vitamins, while cassava flour is rich in carbohydrate. So, when you take mango and cassava flour at the same, it won't kill you but excess intake might purge you. Also some species of mango are toxic in nature so eat with care.
3. EATING FISH EYE GIVES YOU A DULL BRAIN.
Here in Nigeria we are told that eating fish eye makes someone dull but that is not true, infact eating fish helps to boost brain activity since it contains Omega-3 fat.
4. PLACING THREAD ON A BABIES HEAD CAN STOP HICCUPS.
Almost all babies get hiccups when feeding, the best way to stop hiccups in babies is to breast feeding them or give them water.
