There have been several misconceptions about chronic diseases. This post tends to give us some insight about the true nature of chronic diseases and some examples.
Chronic diseases are those diseases that can not be medically cured entirely but rather managed throughout the individual's lifespan. Notable examples of chronic diseases include Diabetes, High blood Pressure ( Hypertension), Asthma, Arthritis, Cancer and so on.
It has been predicted by the WHO that about 75% of the world's population of sub-saharan african will suffer from these diseases come year 2030.
But what exactly are these chronic diseases?
Chronic diseases are basically lifestyle disease. They begin to manifest as a result of the way we live our lives; things we eat, things we do and things we don't do etc. Many also occur as a result of advancement in age. But the most fundamental aspect of these diseases are the lifestyle of individuals. So in general, we can say that Chronic diseases are also referred to as lifestyle diseases.
