Here Are 6 Diseases You Can Get From Using A Dirty Swimming Pool

Swimming is one of the best recreational activities that people love doing and if you must do it ensure that you use a clean and healthy swimming pool for the sake of your health.

Because there are some diseases one can get from using a dirty swimming pool and below are few of them.

1. Swimmer's Ear.

Some people dive into a swimming pool without caution and when they do, water enters into their ear which might cause a swimmer's ear.

This disease is caused when there is an accumulation of dirty water inside the ear and this leads to inflammation of the external ear. It makes the patient scratch the pinna of the ear and this causes pain, swelling and discomfort.

2. Shigellosis

This is formed by a gram-negative bacteria called Shigella. It is a form of dysentery which is characterised by inflammation of the intestines accompanied by vomiting, diarrhoea, pus in faeces and blood in faeces.

3. Hepatitis A.

Hepatitis A is the inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus and it results from contact with contaminated water. And the symptoms include fever, nausea, loss of appetite and jaundice.

4. Diarrhea.

Some people do urinate inside the swimming pool and their urine spread to all parts of the pool and when this water enters your mouth it could be dangerous to your health.

Contact with Dirty water can lead to diarrhoea, the water contains a bacterium called salmonella typhi which causes irritation to the gastrointestinal tract and causes stomach upset.

5. Respiratory Infections.

Dirty water can lead to infection of the respiratory system. When you inhaled a droplet of dirty water which is known to contain microorganisms. This causes respiratory problems due to the bacteria legionella.


6. Sauna Rash.

When you get in contact with dirty water it can cause Sauna Rash. It is caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa which causes rashes and blisters on your skin.
