Ageing is inevitable but studies have shown that many lifestyle habits can speed up the process. Over the years, many people have been ignorant about this and that is why I wrote this article. Some of the lifestyle habits that can speed up ageing according to Healthline, include:
1. Smoking
This is one of the basic lifestyle habits that can cause ageing. Tobacco smoke encompasses thousands of toxic chemicals that can harm the cells of your skin and lead to signs of premature ageing. Smoking can cause deeper wrinkles on the face, particularly between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and the mouth and lips. All smokers should desist from this act since it can damage other internal organs.
2. Stress
Stress is also another major contributor to premature ageing. Stress can affect wrinkles to form because high amounts of cortisol, the stress hormone, can break down the skin's collagen and elastin. Research has found that chronic stress can heighten inflammation, inflicting skin ageing and stimulating the formation of wrinkles. Always find time to rest irrespective of your busy schedule.
3. Too much sugar intake
Intake of sugar can also trigger premature ageing to a large extent. High sugars lead to a bench in the Glycation of proteins leading to the formation of advanced glycation end products which can cause functional and structural damage to them resulting in fast ageing. Reduce your sugar intake to stay healthy.
4. Alcohol intake
Too much intake of alcohol can also cause premature ageing. Heavy drinking can have a direct effect on certain parts of your body and your mental health as you get older. And it can have some unhealthy indirect effects, as well. Reduce your intake of it since it can damage other internal organs in the body.
