6 Foods That Can Save Your Heart

Heart diseases are the leading cause of death in the world today. That is why everyone should be careful with anything that has to do with it. Some of the things we eat are the major causes of heart diseases.

In the same vein, there are foods that can help our heart to function properly. In this article, we want to highlight those foods that can help our heart to function effectively.

1. Oily Fishes.

Oily fishes such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines, herring, pilchards and trout contains omega 3 fatty acids which is essential for effective functioning of the heart, brain and eyes.

2. Nuts.

Nuts such as walnuts, almonds, cashew nuts contain heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids that can help our heart to perform well. Just taking a handful of these nuts some days in the week can help your heart to be healthy.

3. Avocados.

Avocados also contain this heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids and other fats. They also contain potassium and magnesium, minerals which helps the body to perform very well.

4. Spices.

Adding spices such as garlic, tumeric, ginger, lemon,or cinnamon into your food is another way of helping to keep your blood pressure down. Good blood pressure reading is essential for heart health.

It is good to reduce the amount of salt you consume and rather replace them with spices.

5. Banana.

Banana is rich in potassium and magnesium. Potassium is essential for maintaining electrolyte level in the body. Too much fluid in the body puts the heart in danger.

6. Sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes are also rich sources of potassium which helps the body to remove fluids from the body.
