These are the major elements that makes up the human body

Here's the constituents of the Human body

1) Oxygen: Oxygen Makes up 65% of the human body and it combines with hydrogen to form water which is the primary solvent in the body which regulates the body osmotic pressure and temperature. Oxygen is found in many key organic compounds and is one of the constituents of carbohydrates, fats and oil, proteins, Cellulose, starch.

2) Carbon: Carbon makes up 18.5% of the human body and it has 4 bonding sites for other atoms which makes it the major element which makes up the chemistry of the human body. Carbon chains are used to build carbohydrates, fats, proteins and nucleic acids in the body.

3) Hydrogen: This element makes up 9.5% of the body and it combines with oxygen to form water which is the principle solvent in the body. Hydrogen is one of elements that forms Carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oil.

4) Nitrogen: This element makes up 3.2% of the body and it's one of the major constituents of proteins and forms a major block as the building block of Nucleic acids that makes up genetic codes.

5) Calcium: calcium makes up 1.5% of the human body and it's the most abundant mineral in the body. Calcium is the the structural material in bone and necessary for the regulation of proteins and muscle contraction.

6) Phosphorus: This makes up 1% of the body and it's found in the molecules of ATP - Adenosine Triphosphate which is the primary energy carrier in living cells. Just like calcium, Phosphorus also forms the bone.

7) Sodium and Potassium: Sodium and Potassium each makes up 0.2% & 0.4% of the body respectively and are one of the most important electrolytes which is used for Nerve signals and they also help to regulate blood pressure and the amount of water in the body.

Trace elements that makes up the human body includes:

Chlorine: it makes up 0.2% of the body and helps to maintain fluid balance

Magnesium: it makes up 0.1% of the the body and it's involved in over 300 metabolic reactions in the body and it's build bone and muscle structure and it's a cofactor in enzymatic reactions.

Sulphur: it makes up 0.4% and it is found in proteins and gives proteins it's shape.

Copper: this makes up most of the enzymes in the body.

Iron: The element makes up haemoglobin which is a pigment that carries oxygen around the body cells and gives blood it's red color.

Iodine: This element is found in the thyroid hormone - thyroxine.

Fluorine: This element hardehs the teeth and it's found around the enamel part of the teeth.
