Lagos State Coroner Indicts Doctors for Medical Negligence Leading to Patient's Death

Following the coroner's verdict, the Premier Hospital released a statement expressing their condolences to the family of the deceased and promising to take necessary actions to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) also responded to the verdict, stating that they would review the code of conduct and ethics of medical practitioners to ensure that such negligence does not occur again.

This case highlights the need for better regulation and accountability in the healthcare industry in Nigeria. Patients deserve quality care, and medical practitioners should be held accountable for any negligence that leads to their death or harm.

It is essential for the government to invest in the healthcare sector, both in public and private facilities, to improve the standard of care and prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Additionally, there should be regular sensitization and education programs for medical practitioners on the importance of following proper procedures and providing quality care.

The family of Peju Ugboma hopes that their loss will serve as a wake-up call to the medical community in Nigeria and that measures will be taken to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
