The palm fruit (also known as Banga) is utilized in preparing the native Banga Soup. The palm fruit is one of Nigeria’s most common food products. Palm oil is derived from the flesh of the palm fruit which is used to prepare the delicacy Banga Soup.
Banga soup has various health benefits which I would be sharing with you here:
Consumption of palm kernel juice in Banga soup is highly nutritious. Banga soup contains magnesium; vitamin A, E and K; as well as vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 has been found to be relevant in reducing effects of premenstrual syndrome symptoms (like weight gain, insomnia, bloating, and leg swelling etc).
Vitamin E Antioxidant
Banga soup is loaded with vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells against cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Vitamin E refreshes and rejuvenates your skin. It also helps in reducing your cholesterol level; thus lowering your risk of heart diseases.
Banga soup constitutes palm oil which is very rich in vitamin K. Vitamin K plays a vital role in blood clotting; and preventing heart disease. Vitamin K helps in the maintenance of strong bones. It promotes bone density thereby reducing the risk of fractures. According to Medical News Today, " Adequate intake of vitamin K has also been shown to lower the risk of stroke."
The magnesium content in palm kernel juice performs well over 300 enzymatic reactions in your body that regulate muscle and nerve function; blood pressure regulation; protein synthesis; and blood glucose control.
Palm kernel juice contains Vitamin A which is essential for healthy eye vision; and growth of your bones. It also maintains the state of your reproductive health and immune system. Studies have proven that vitamin A might lower your risk of certain cancers like Hodgkin’s lymphoma; and cancers of the cervix, lung and bladder.
