The Side Effects Of Eating Too Much Kola Nuts

Kola nut is the seed of the cola nut plant and is used widely in Nigeria and many West African countries as part of traditional hospitality, cultural, and social ceremonies. It is also used to make medicine.

Kola nut is used for short-term relief of fatigue, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), melancholy, lack of normal muscle tone (atony), exhaustion, dysentery, a type of diarrhea called atonic diarrhea, weight loss, and migraine headaches. Maybe, you are not one of those people that consume kola nuts frequently. Are you trying to stay up all night for that test or exam? or Are you into kola nut because of your ancestors consumed it alot?

(1) Worsens Diabetic Conditions 

Medical doctors have warned diabetic individuals against consuming kola nuts as it deters their conditions and may worsen the ailment. There is a constant a sensitization on the need to avoid kola in diabetic conditions.

Chewing kola nuts constantly has a higher tendency to increase the risk of Oral cancer and Intestinal cancer.

(3) Causes cardiovascular problems

This comes as a result of caffeine impact on normal cardiac function as Kola nut comes with this substance that can cause irregularity in heartbeat.

 (4) In Pregnancy

Excessive kola nut is unsafe for pregnant mothers. Pregnancy mothers have been cautioned against taking too much kola nut. Because it is not safe for both the mother and the baby, it might be one of the causes of pregnancy complications.

 (5) Breathing Difficulties 

An increased intake of kola nut is likely to cause difficulty in breathing, you know when such difficulty it might result in hypoxia with could result in death.

 (6) Effect of kola nut on anxiety

Too much intake of kola nut can worsen anxiety disorder, due to its caffeine content, large amounts of cola nut might cause headache, anxiety, agitation, ringing in the ears, and irregular heartbeats. Stopping the use of caffeine suddenly can sometimes result in headaches, irritation, nervousness, anxiety, and dizziness. and when this anxiety disorder happens, mental health is at stake.
