The Acting Executive Secretary of the Ebonyi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency , Dr Mrs Catherine Barry Oko has assured that the three months allowances owed the recently recruited Nurses and Midwives shall be paid before the end of this week .
This Cheering news was broken at an Interractive forum she had with the Nurses , Midwives and principal staff of the Agency at the Ministry of Health Conference Hall , Centenary City Abakaliki .
Dr Mrs Oko commended the patience of the Nurses and Midwives , who have exercised restrains over the months adding that her agency have been having sleepless nights over their predicaments and thanked God that all records have been straightened to warrant their payment .
She however advised them to be diligent in their duties , always report to work on time adding that any of them found complacent will not be paid .
Dr Mrs Oko reminded them of the nobility of the Nursing Profession which is meant for saving lives , thereby admonishing them to be Professional at all times .
Also speaking , the Director of Nursing services , Ministry of Health , Dr Mrs Deborah Aliegu said that the state government held the Nursing job in high esteem and can not joke with their welfare , hence the efforts put in to ensure the payment of their allowances .
She encouraged them to intensify their efforts in the course of discharging their duties , not only that it will enhance the healthcare service delivery but also as a basis for the payment of their allowances pending the time they will finally be gazetted .
Others who spoke include the Administrative Officer Mr Emmanuel Onwe and the Accountant of the Agency , Mrs Uroh Nnennaya who all confirmed that the payment is ready but only those that discharged their duties diligently shall be paid .
