5 Medical Conditions That Cause Frequent Urination

Frequent urination occurs when a person begins to have the urge to pass out urine many times throughout 24 hours. This is a symptom of different medical conditions and can have a variety of solutions.

Some periods of your life, such as the pregnancy period, you may need to pass out urine more often. This can be a typical symptom of something such as pregnancy and it usually passes after birth.

However, frequent urination can be associated with other health problems that aren’t normal parts of life and don’t fade over time. It can be a symptom of more severe health conditions.

Various health conditions could lead to frequent urination. Many of these causes are based on your age, gender, or possibly even both.

You could pass out urine frequently a few times throughout your life for so many reasons. These conditions can range from minor and easily manageable to more severe problems.

Some of the health conditions that cause frequent urination include.

1. Diabetes

Passing out urine frequently is a hallmark sign of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as the elimination of bodily fluids is sometimes your body’s only means to flush out excess blood sugar.

2. Overactive bladder syndrome

Overactive bladder, also known as OAB, leads to frequent and sudden needs to pass out urine that may be difficult to control. You may feel like you need to urinate many times during the day and night, and may also experience unplanned loss of urine.

3. UTIs

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common health condition that causes cystitis. When you have one, bacteria in your bladder makes it swell and get irritated, which causes symptoms such as the need to pass out urine more often than usual.

4. Prostate problems

Your prostate grows as you do, but it can lead to health issues if it gets too large. A large prostate can place pressure on your urinary system and lead to peeing frequently.

5. Kidney damage

If you regularly feel the urge to urinate, especially at night, this can be a sign of kidney damage. When the kidney's filters are not functioning well, it can lead to an increase in the need to pass out urine.
