4. Rinses with salt water.
Warm salt water rinses can be used once the burning feeling has subsided. Natural antibacterial properties in salt aid in the reduction of swelling and pain, thereby speeding up the healing process. Gently swish the warm water around in your mouth before spitting it out.
For discomfort and inflammation, take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
