COVID-19: Nigeria Records New 1,683 Cases In 3 Days

Nigeria has recorded more than 500 cases of covid-19 daily for the third time on Friday as the government tries to deal with a new and more infectious version of the virus.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said figures on Saturday morning confirmed another 590 covid-19 cases have been reported.

According to the NCDC, the number of cases is rising, and so is the country’s testing capacity since the peak of the first wave in the year 2020.

The NCDC stated that the new daily tally of 558 cases on Thursday has now been replaced by Friday‘s 590 cases and these have increased the total infections in the country to 173,411.

It additionally said that the country also confirmed eight new deaths from COVID-19 symptoms on Friday, keeping the death count at 2,148.

The NCDC also stated that the 590 new infections were across registered across 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
