China Donates 470,000 Doses Of COVID Vaccine To Nigeria

On Friday evening, a Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria ,CUI Jianchun, disclosed that the Chinese government has donated four hundred and seventy thousand (470,000) doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines to Nigeria.

CUI Jianchun made this known when he visited the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire in Abuja. He stated that the vaccines are expected to arrive Nigeria very soon.

The Chinese Ambassador, CUI Jianchun said the vaccines were donated to help fight against the COVID-19 in the country in accordance to the cooperation between the two States. This is the best proof of good quality relationship between our two States. he added.

Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Health, on his part, also said Nigeria was expecting the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines, stating that Nigeria ran out of COVID-19 vaccines since 8 July 2021.

He said the Chinese government had rendered maximum assistance to Nigeria’s development, noting that if some relationships like this can blossom, we will perpetually nourish it.

And China doesn’t just assist us in addressing the lapses that exists in the healthcare system, but also in other kinds of gaps that we have, he said.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has sucessfully administered at least 3,938,945 doses of the vaccines since the inception of the programme in March.

So far, the Nigeria has reported over one hundred and seventy thousand, one hundred and twenty two (170,122) confirmed cases of COVID-19 Virus with two thousand one hundred and thirty death toll ( 2,130), since it first recorded the first positive case on 27 February, 2020.
