Malaria is one of the commonest disease that afflicts humans. It is spread by mosquito. Just a bite of a mosquito carrying the disease is all it takes to be infected. Many countries in the west do not have malaria. Malaria is very much in Africa. And that is why if you are travelling to a place with high risk of malaria, you need to be aware of the symptoms of malaria.

Symptoms Of Malaria

A high temperature (fever), sweats and chills, headaches, vomiting, muscle pains, diarrhoea.


Malaria is caused by a parasite known as Plasmodium. The Plasmodium parasite is mainly spread by female Anopheles mosquitoes, which mainly bite at dusk and at night. When an infected mosquito bites a human, it passes the parasites into the bloodstream.

The best way to avoid malaria is through prevention. 

Treatment Of Malaria

Once you notice any symptoms of malaria, you need to visit your doctor for treatment. Malaria is fatal if left untreated. The doctor might prescribe an antimalarial drug depending on your situation; severity of your symptoms, where you caught malaria, whether you took an antimalarial to prevent malaria, whether you're pregnant.
