3 Medical Tests Women Should Do Once They Reach The Age Of 40 (Photos)

A popular saying says, a stitch in time saves nine. This saying applies to women and some of the diseases that are peculiar to them. Because, some of the diseases that affects women can be treated if they are discovered on time. Once a women reaches the age of 40, they start moving towards the slope this means that their hormonal cycle begins.

Once a woman begins her hormonal slope she becomes more vulnerable to certain diseases. Some of these diseases can be fetal if they are not diagosed on time which is why, it is important for women who have reached the age of 40 to undergo certain medical test.

Here Are Three (3) Important Test Women Who Are Up To 40 Years Should Undergo.

1. Mammogram: this test is also called breast exam. The major reason for this test is to determine whether a woman has breast cancer. Cancer is a very deadly disease that has four stages. When cancer is at stage 1 or, 2, it is easier to treat. But, when it advances to the last two stages, it becomes complicated or, impossible to treat.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers that affects women and it has been responsible for the deaths of several women. However, through the mammogram exam, it can be detected and treated before it becomes metastatic.

NOTE: there are certain self to exams younger women and adolescents girls can use to test themselves to discover if they have any lumps that could be cancerous. But taking a mammogram exam is the best.

2. Pap Smear: this is commonly known as pelvic exam. This is a medical examination is designed specifically for women. Amongst other things, the test is used to determine whether a woman has cervical cancer or not.

Cervical cancer is is one of the most common cancers in women. Hundreds of women have died of this cancer mainly because, it not discovered early. Studies have shown that, women who have multiple sexual partners are more prone to developing cervical cancer.

3. Blood Sugar Test: this test is done to find out whether a person has diabetes. Diabetes is a deadly sickness that has no cure.

Diabetes also affect men but, I included it in this list because, studies from the world health organization (W.H.O) have shown that, women have more risk of developing and dying from diabetes related complications like; kidney disease and heart heart failure.

NOTE: the diseases mentioned here does not just affect women who are 40 years and above. Girls as young as, 12 who have reached puberty can develop cervical cancer. Children as young as, 10 can have diabetes.

Therefore, it is important for everybody no matter their age to maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, women who have reached 40 years and above are more vulnerable to these disease which is why a mentioned them specifically.
