Health benefits and side effects of ginger plant

Ginger is the hot and spicy rootstock of Zingiber officinale, which is mostly used in cookery and in medicine. It’s among the healthiest and most delicious spices on the planet.

It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, and it’s closely related to turmeric, cardamom, and galangal.

The rhizome (underground part of the stem) is the part commonly used as a spice. It’s often called ginger root or, simply, ginger.

Ginger has a lot of health benefits some of which include; 

1.Ginger can be used to aid digestion. can be used to fight the flu and common cold. can also be used to reduce nausea, ginger is loaded with antioxidants, compounds that prevent stress and damage to your body's DNA.

4. Ginger also helps to reduce pain and inflammation. In the intestinal tract, it reduces gas and painful spasms(an involuntary and unnatural contraction of one or more muscles or muscular fibers).

5. Gingerol, the bioactive compound in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infections. 

Ginger can be used in various ways, you can eat it directly, or you can also drink the ginger tea or you can use it(ginger) for cooking.

As you know too much of everything is bad, so here are some side effects of using ginger excessively;

1.Cardiac arrhythmias

2.Central nervous system depression

3.Mouth or throat irritation
