What Happens To Your Body When You Keep The Lights On While Sleeping

Many people ignorantly keep the lights on while sleeping. To others it is a habit, they cannot sleep in a dark room. This is a habit that one should do away with because of the harm it can bring to somebody.

Sleeping in a house while the light is on have a lot of disadvantages. Sleep is to us an obligation the everyone of us owes our body. The body needs not only quality sleep but also quantity. We need to sleep for a minimum of 7 hours.

Sleep is the means by which our tissues repair themselves. It is also a means of rejuvenating of body after some hours of labour. When we are sleeping, our immune system receive a boost.

1. Inhibits the production of melatonin.

Keeping the light on while you sleep may not allow your brain to produce enough melatonin which is essential for acheiving quality sleep. Melatonin also helps to control the blood pressure. It also play an important role in reproduction.

2. May Cause chronic health conditions.

Taking quality sleep protects from sicknesses. In the same vein, when we fail to take enough sleep as a result of light which makes it difficult for us to fell asleep and stay asleep, the result will be chronic sicknesses if the condition persist for a long time.

3. May result in high blood pressure

It may also cause high blood pressure because melatonin which is been inhibited also helps to control blood pressure.

4. May cause migraines.

Not taking enough quality sleep may result in migraines. Migraines on the other hand may also affect mood.

5. May result in day accidents.

Studies have shown that adults who do not take enough sleep at night have increased chance of getting accidents in the day.
