Two Hard Drugs That Are Claiming The Lives of Nigerian Youths And What Addicts Should Do

The use of hard drugs has affected many youths in Nigeria. We'll be looking at two hard drugs that are destroying youths in the country, and what addicts should do to help themselves.

1. Codeine

It is an opiate, and it's used to treat pain, cough, and diarrhea. When used to treat pain, it works by affecting the way the brain and nervous system responds to pain. In Nigeria, it is found in some cough syrups. Many youths in the country have abused this drug. However, they fail to understand how dangerous it can be.

Some of the side effects of codeine are; delusions, schizophrenia, hallucinations, respiratory problems, and possible organ failures.

2. Tramadol

This drug is an opioid pain medication used to treat moderate and severe pain. However, it has been abused by many youths in Nigeria.

It is so powerful that even a little quantity can affect the body system. Some of its side effects are; nervousness, uncontrolled shaking of a part of the body, sleepiness, heartburn, tightened muscles, and even mode swing.

There have been cases where some bus drivers lost consciousness while driving after consuming a large quantity of these drugs.

If a person is addicted to either Codeine or Tramadol, that person would have to see a doctor or a therapist depending on how serious the addiction is. In some cases, you'll be given drugs that'll help cleanse your system. In some situations, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is required. When the addiction is deep, drugs and CBT are required, and the treatment can last from weeks to months.

The abuse of these drugs has sent many Nigerian youths to an early grave, stay away from them.
