Cancer of the reproductive tract and how you can reduce your risk of the disease

Cancer is a very deadly disease that has claimed and is still claiming millions of lives around the world. Cancer occurs as a result of the presence of rapidly growing cells in the body.

There are over so many different types of cancer in the world. Some of which are peculiar to women. Female reproductive tract cancer is one such cancer.

This type of cancer is also known as gynecologic cancer. It refers to all cancers that affect the female reproductive tract. This cancer can start anywhere within a woman’s pelvis (the area below the stomach and in between the hip bones).

Five types of cancer fall under the female reproductive tract cancers they are; cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancer. Cervical cancer is a type that begins from the cervix which is located at the lower narrow end of the uterus ( the womb).

Ovarian cancer starts in the ovaries. Uterine cancer is the type of cancer that begins in the pear-shaped organ in a woman’s pelvis where the baby grows during pregnancy, known as the urethra. It begins in the tube-like channel between the bottom of the uterus and the outside of the body known as the again. Vulvar cancer begins in the outer part of the female genital organs known as the vulva.

Though every gynecologic cancer is different in its risk factors, symptoms, and prevention methods, here are a few indicators that you might have one of the gynecologic cancers.

One way of preventing cancer of the reproductive tract is by maintaining proper hygiene. Keeping your entire body clean during and after your menstruation is a necessity if you want to live a healthy and cancer-free life.

Another effective way of preventing this type of cancer is by having one partner. If you must have more than one partner, you must make sure that you use protection.
