3 Healthy Things That Prunes Do To The Body

Prunes are the same as plums. The difference is that Prunes are dried versions of plums. These fruits are very delicious, and nutritious. This means that they perform certain functions in the body. Below are three of these functions.

1. Prunes can help to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is the process, which your body adopts to heal wounds on your skin. This involves the release of inflammatory cells to the affected area, to help fasten the healing process. But a condition where the immune system fails to withdraw the cells from the area, after the the wound is no longer there is known as chronic inflammation. The bad part is that it can cause harm to your tissues. But some antioxidants can help to control inflammation, in order to avoid any harm.

Prunes contain these antioxidants. These antioxidants also fight free radicals, and prevent them from taking part in chemical reactions that may affect you. If your body overreacts on wounds, then you should consider adding Prunes to your diet. 2. Prunes may help to prevent heart diseases. The heart is at risk of many diseases. These include, coronary artery disease, High Blood Pressure (Hypertension), and many others. HBP, a common heart problem, results when there is a sharp rise in the blood pressure levels. Coronary artery disease is another common heart problem. This results from the blockage of the coronary artery. This blockage results from the accumulation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.

But a study reveals that Prunes can help to lower the levels of blood pressure, and LDL cholesterol. They have been studied for their potential to reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which are major risk factors for heart disease.")

3. Prunes do not cause rise in blood sugar levels. The blood sugar level is the measure of the amount of sugar in the blood. High amount of sugar can cause a condition known as Diabetes. Foods high in carbohydrates usually increase the risk of Diabetes. But there are exceptions, because the high carbohydrate content of Prunes does not cause spike in blood sugar levels. This is because they contain hormone that can regulate sugar in the blood. This hormone is known as adiponectin.
