Lagos State is presently the state with the highest number of Coronavirus cases in Nigeria. The state has recorded a total number of 13097 cases, in the space of three months. This high number of cases in the state calls for urgent attention.
We should not be surprised that the government of the state has been unable to curb the spread of the virus in the state, the reason for this lies in the nonchalant attitude of the inhabitants of the state to the global pandemic. Some of them are even of the opinion that there is nothing like Coronavirus.
The government gave them guidelines before lifting the ban on movement, that everyone should use nose masks, wash their hands regularly, sanitize their hands, keep social distance and avoid public gatherings, but they people have failed to follow all these guidelines and has put the whole state at risk.
The state is always recording an increase in the number of daily cases, not because of anything, but because of their failure to follow all the outlined guidelines, so we can’t blame the government, but the people. And what this people are ignorant of is that the more the number of increasing cases, the higher the probability of another total lockdown, and also the higher the chances of our children not resuming again this year, meaning the loss of a whole academic year.
My advice to all Lagosians would be to stay at home and stay safe.
