Certain Foods You Should Stay Away From When Pregnant

According to Healthline, You should stay away from these Food when pregnant:

Uncooked seafood such as oysters, mussels, and clams (think sushi) is considered raw meat. Also, meat and poultry should never be eaten raw or undercooked. These may be tainted with salmonella or toxoplasmosis.

Listeria, a bacterium that can infect both you and your unborn child, can live in deli meats. Your unborn child's life may be at danger if you contract an illness while you are carrying it.

Sharks, king mackerels, swordfish, and tilefish are just few of the fish that have been shown to have dangerously high amounts of mercury. Curious about canned tuna? Canned, chunk light tuna tends to have reduced mercury levels, but it's still best to eat it in moderation.

When it comes to smoked seafood, stay away from lox, kippered fish, jerky, and nova-style salmon. This cold-smoked seafood may be tainted with listeria despite being stored in the fridge. Shelf-stable or canned smoked seafood, on the other hand, is likely safe to eat.

Avoid Caesar dressings, Hollandaise sauces, mayonnaise, and some custards made at home since they may contain raw eggs. Consuming raw eggs may put you at risk for salmonella.

Avoid soft cheeses such as Roquefort, feta, Gorgonzola, Camembert, and Brie since they may contain listeria. Queso blanco, queso fresco, and other Mexican cheeses should be avoided unless they are manufactured with pasteurized milk.
