The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Immigration Service to release the international passport belonging to Sir doctor Peter Odili, with immediate effect.
According to the information provided by the Nigeria Info Radio station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Nigerian Immigration Service, seized the passport of former governor of Rivers State, Sir Peter Odili, thereby preventing him from going on trips abroad.
While delivering the Judgement, Justice Inyang Ekwo declared the seizure of the passport of the former governor, by the service as illegal, unconstitutional, and an infringement of his fundamental rights.
Further speaking, Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the ordered to the Nigerian Immigration service, to tender an apology letter to Sir Peter Odili concerning the seizure of his international passport.
He also restrained the NIS from further harassment and intimidation, should they try to hold back on the former governor's passport, or try stopping him from leaving the country.
