EndSARS Memorial; "Protest Can Hold But Don't Block Road" - Lagos State CP

20:10:20 is a day that will forever remain a memorial day in the heart of Nigerian youths as it mark the day armed military men allegedly shot live ammunition, into a crowd of peaceful protesters who converged at Lekki toll gate to protest against police brutality and (defunct) SARS indiscriminate killings of young Nigerians.

Following the plan of Nigerian youths to hold a memorial rally in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the 2020 protest, Lagos State commissioner of police CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu, has finally bowed to pressure as the CP tells protesters to be peaceful and avoid blocking of roads during the exercise.

The CP said protest is the right of citizens under the law but to unlawfully obstruct the flow of traffic for other road users is not permitted by the law. Odumosu asked what happens when a pregnant woman being in an emergency, building collapse, fire incidents etc when roads are blocked by protesters.

CP Odumosu said as the economy of the country and the fact that the protest day falls on a working day, it is not proper to block other road users who will be going out to look for their daily bread.
