Parade protest

The Bodies Dumped At The Government House In Plateau, A Sign That The People Feel Helpless

According to a report from Sahara Reporters, many youths in Jos North Local Government Area protested against the killings in the state by dumping over 20 dead bodies at the main gate of Plateau State Government house in Little Rayfield.

The protest happened as a result of the Tuesday's night attack on Yelwan Zangam, a community occupied by the Anaguta ethnic group in Jos.

It was reported that over 35 people lost their lives in the attack, and their bodies were moved to a hospital by some people in the early hours of Wednesday. However, angry youths stormed the hospital and collected the bodies which they later dropped in front of the government house.

Dropping the dead in front of the government house certainly shows that they're angry, scared and helpless. In some of the videos of the protest, some people were seen crying, while others kept calling for help and blaming the government for lack of adequate security.

Even though there were many youths in Yelwan Zangam community when the bandits attacked, they could do nothing because the bandits were carrying highly sophisticated weapons.

The governor of the state has also expressed how sad he feels about the attacks in Plateau, and he has re-imposed another curfew in some parts of Jos.

This is a time that all the governors, including the southern governors, need to come together and decide on what should be done to end the crisis in Plateau and other northern States. With the way things are going, these bandits might soon start attacking southern states if they're not stopped now.

I can't begin to imagine how some of the people in Yelwan Zangam community felt when they saw their fathers, mothers, and friends lying dead after the bandits had left.

If there's any approach left for the government to use in the fight against insecurity, it should be employed now because the killings are getting out of hand.
