Headlines: ISWAP Sacks Military Base In Buratai Village, FG Suspends Adeboye’s Helicopter From Flying

Bizman, Buni, Others Donate For Mosque Construction.

Business tycoon, Auwal Lawal Abdullahi (Sarkin Sudan of Gombe), Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Saturday donated the sum of N120 million for the construction of Potiskum Emirate Council Central Mosque.

Abdullahi, who served as the chief launcher for the N550 million mosque appeal fund in Potiskum, announced a personal donation of N50 million with a pledge to furnish the mosque when completed.

The chief launcher charged all the donors to fulfill their pledges, adding that their reward is in heaven.

Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni also donated the sum of N50 million on behalf of the state government while encouraging other people of the state to contribute towards the construction of the mosque.

On his parts, the president of the senate, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, announced a donation of N20 million for the project.

Other donors were the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, Governor Babagana Umara Zullum of Borno State, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, and Senator Ibrahim Bomai among others.

The Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, has commended all the donors for the gesture.

ISWAP Sacks Military Base In Buratai Village.

Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province(ISWAP) have attacked a Nigerian military base in Kamuya, Borno state, the home village of retired army chief, Lt.General Tukur Buratai.

In the attack, the insurgents dislodged Nigerian troops and killed five of them.

Wire reports said the attack was carried out on Friday, just a few days after the insurgents attacked Damasak near the Niger border.

No fewer than four soldiers were also injured in the attack in Kamuya and dozens more haven't not been accounted for.

The village has been repeatedly targeted by jihadists, prompting the setting up of a base to end the attacks.

The insurgents sacked the base, forcing troops to withdraw in disarray, said a second military officer, who gave the same toll.

FG Suspends Adeboye’s Helicopter From Flying.

The Federal Government through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has grounded a private chopper belonging to Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at the Lagos Airport, investigations by

Sunday PUNCH, has revealed.

It was learnt that the aircraft, AgustaWestland AW139 chopper, with registration number 5N-EAA, was suspended from flying over two weeks ago, following the expiration of some of its papers and spare parts.

The suspension, officials said, would also allow the regulator to conduct vital safety checks on its safety-critical components, especially some spare parts that are due for replacement.

Adeboye had, last Saturday during a special meeting with all ordained ministers of the mission at the RCCG, Region 21, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, called for drastic action against corrupt practices in all facets of Nigeria.

The RCCG leader, who flew a chopper to the venue, said he arrived late for the meeting because someone had requested a bribe from him to fly his chopper.

He said he had decided to embark on the trip via his chopper to avoid a possible gridlock on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The 79-year-old mathematician-turned-preacher said, I don’t give excuses because I have discovered long ago that only failures give excuses. But you must pray for Nigeria.

S/East Govs, Ohanaeze, Others Plotting To Hand Over ESN Members To FG – IPOB.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused some politicians and government officials in the South-East alongside security agencies of planning to abducted some of its members.

In a statement from the Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that Southeast Governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo, traditional rulers and President Generals of some communities were secretly compiling names of suspected IPOB members and ESN operatives across the zone.

The proscribed Biafra group stated that the named individuals want to transmit the names to the Nigerian government.

Powerful alleged the move, suggested by the Federal Government and her security operatives was targeted at weakening its security outfit in their efforts to flush herdsmen out of its territory.

The group vowed to make the South-East zone hot for governor if they refuse to withdraw the alleged plans against its members and supporters.

Yoruba Leaders Say No To One Nigeria, Seek Independence Of Yoruba Nation.

Hundreds of Yoruba loyalists under the aegis of a pan Yoruba groups ‘Ilana Omo Oodua,’ on Saturday, occupied the streets of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, seeking independence of the Yoruba nation.

The group, in a peaceful rally against what they described as the prevailing injustice and biases in the country, insisted that there was no going back on the demand for the creation of the Oduduwa Republic.

The protesters, which comprised of various pan Yoruba groups and leaders, converged in front of the ancient Mapo Hall, under the initiation of the leader of the group, Prof. Banji Akintoye.

Heavy security personnel was stationed at strategic points of the venue to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the peaceful rally.

The rally, which was billed to start around 9 am, could not hold until about two hours later, due to the presence of heavily armed security personnel who prevented the protesters from gaining entrance into the Mapo Hall venue of the event.

Undeterred, the group later converged in front of Mapo Hall where the protesters declared that the Yoruba nation has had enough of the burdens of the marriage of inconvenience in the country.

According to some of the protesters, the agitation for sovereignty followed the claims by the various actors of the groups that the Nigerian constitution had not been effective in the smooth running of the country’s affairs.

One of the notable leaders at the rally, Bashorun Kunle Adesokan, was emphatic in his conviction as he noted that it was time for the Yoruba race to have a country of its own country.
