UK Govt Tells Buhari What To Do To Killers Of Deborah

The British Government has condemned the killing of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State, who was burnt on Thursday.

"Daily Post" had reported that the student was beaten to a pulp and burnt alive by male Muslim students who accused her of insulting Prophet Muhammed via a WhatsApp platform.

Reacting, Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria on Twitter called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.

Court Grants Dagogo Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted bail to a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Hon. Farah Dagogo.

Justice E. Obile granted Dagogo bail in fundamental rights action and ex parte application sought by his legal team.

SDP acting national chairman Supo Shonibare, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, however, said aggrieved aspirants from other parties must not come to the party with “baggage.”

Former Lagos Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday met Kaduna delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primary slated later for the month.

At the Umar Yar’Adua Indoor Sports Hall of the Murtala Square, the delegates instantly endorsed the presidential aspiration of the former governor.

This followed a voice vote put across to the delegates by the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

INEC Says 1.4m Online Registration Invalid

The Independent Electoral Commission has announced that 1,126,359 out of 2,523,458 Permanent Voters Cards registered online between June and December 2021 are invalid.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Zamfara State, Prof Sa’idu Babura, disclosed this while speaking to journalists in his office in Gusau on Thursday.
