Human rights defense body raise an alarm as Ughelli and Ogor Kingdoms allegedly sell massive lands to Fulani herdsmen

The Delta State Branch of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), which is led by a human right activist by the name Peter Edariese, has raised an alarm concerning the allegedly massive selling of lands to Fulani herdsmen by two Urhobo kingdoms in Delta state.

According to DAILY POST NIGERIA, the human right activist has cautioned the leadership of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Worldwide that if the selling of lands to Fulani herdsmen continues, the lives of the Urhobo nation are in danger. He urged the union to address the issue of land selling to Fulani herdsmen.

"Ogor Kingdom went ahead to sell the Ogor modern market to Fulani herdsmen, in which they swore never to share with Ughelli kingdom. The Fulanis have now divided the land to themselves by erecting a zinc house. Ajuwe has instructed the youths not to go anywhere close to the Fulanis demanding a land development fee.

"I remembered a particular day when some occupants whose houses can only be accessed through the market road brought a bulldozer to widen up the road, but the Fulani herdsmen came in a group and threatened the life of the man driving the bulldozer with cutlass, guns, and sticks. Currently, our Urhobo people go to these Fulanis to buy lands from them to build" he says.

Reacting to the continuous selling of lands to Fulani herdsmen by two Uhrobo Kingdom kings, Comrade Edariese urges the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Worldwide to plead with the Urhobo kings to stop the selling of lands to Fulani herdsmen in the various communities.

Guys, what do you have to say concerning this issue?
