#EndSARS Anniversary: 3 Nigerian Celebrities That Should Avoid Joining The Lekki Toll Gate Protest

Youths in the country are commemorating the first anniversary of EndSARS, a protest movement against police brutality that rocked major cities across the country.

Initially, the EndSARS protest was aimed at ending the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit, SARS, who were notorious for extortion, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

The first protest was successful, as the Federal Government obliged and suspend the unit. However, it later snowballed into wider protests against bad governance, until it came to a grinding halt after October 20, 2020, the date of a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate.

In this article, we would be taking a look at the three Nigerian celebrities who should avoid joining the protest today, as youths commemorate the EndSARS anniversary.

1. Davido

Davido is one of the Nigerian celebrities that should avoid joining the lekki toll gate protest today. The Afrobeat artiste, whose hit song “Fem” became the unofficial soundtrack for the #ENDSARs movement last year claimed that the song got him into a lot of trouble, to the extent that he had to leave the country. With this, Davido, who joined the protest last year, should avoid going to the toll gate today to avoid getting into more trouble.

2. Mr Macaroni

Mr Macaroni is one of the most active spokespeople for the EndSARS movement and has been arrested on several occasions with strict warnings not to involve in any movement that can incite violence. With this, I think the comedian should lay low for now and should not join up with the protesters.

3. DJ Switch

Even though she claimed not to be in the country, I think DJ Switch should also avoid coming into the country to join up with the protesters.
