Officers of the Lagos State Police Command has reportedly arrested one Mr. Abimola who is alleged to be a journalist, and another man who was clad in white and bearing an #EndSARS banner.
According to reports, they were arrested at the Lekki Tollgate, Lagos, during the #EndSARS protests memorial in the state, on Wednesday, 20th October, 2021.
Reports gathered that, another man was arrested while granting an interview to journalists by the Lekki Tollgate. He was accosted by a band of policemen and arrested after one of the officers shouted, “arrest the idiot”.
In another report, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, reportedly ordered his men to tear gas #EndSARSMemorial protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.
According to him, the protesters went against the promise earlier made that the procession will start by 8 am and end by 10 am. He added that any demonstration beyond the agreed time is constituting a nuisance and will not be tolerated. "The protest was between 8 am and 10 am, anything, after 10 am, is a nuisance. I discussed with them and they said they will end the protest by 10 o’clock. Other people doing it now are just causing a nuisance. some with machete & hammer, are they protesters or miscreants?"
