Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, and comedian Debo Adebayo, better known by his stage name Mr. Macaroni, have joined the car procession at the EndSARSMemorial protest at Lekki tollgate in Lagos.
This is despite a ban on protests in Lagos and the heavy presence of armed police personnel at the tollgate. Celebrities and other groups who arrived with their cars at the tollgate were spotted waving Nigerian flags and blaring horns while singing solidarity songs.
Some activists who spoke to journalists indicated that they will continue to go back and forth the tollgate as a form of protest over the supposed killing of demonstrators on October 20, 2020.
Last October, the tollgate was the epicenter of protests against police brutality and poor governance. On October 20, 2020, gun-wielding soldiers dispersed youths who had congregated at the tollgate throughout day and night, an action that some believe resulted in the loss of lives.
This was followed by hoodlums in Lagos destroying private and public property, an occurrence that prompted the state's police to enforce a protest ban.
